MullenLowe Beauty’s Creative Director, Meryke Naude is known to many as one that always looks to pursue and challenge work that creates a positive change in the world. She brings together the best of ideas that has enduring charm with a strong aesthetic underpinned by meticulous craft.
Growing up in Secunda, South Africa, Meryke developed a passion for art, design and communication from an early age, drawing inspiration from factories in her neighbourhood through observing the complexities of machines are put together to generate products for the city.
Evidently, this passion of hers grew, and now armed with almost 15 years of experience in the creative field, she has spearheaded numerous campaigns that not only challenges status quos but also gender norms such as her recent work with Bumble – a dating platform that gives women the opportunity to take charge. On Unilever, she oversees the Closeup portfolio and confronts the biases of how society sees love and relationships provoking conversations. On Clear, she diversifies what success resembles and how one can demonstrate resilience through trials.
While Meryke strives to connect with audiences around the globe with visually surprising work that brings brand narratives to life in her everyday work, she also spends her time grooming the next generation of creatives by inspiring her team with blue sky thinking. Mentored by the many influential leaders in her career, Meryke works hard to continue being an optimistic and nurturing leader to many while finding inventive ways to course-correct the many mispronunciations of her name.
